    Let us assume one of the numbers is 'x'

    Then, another number is = 5 × x = '5x'

    So, x × 5x = 300

    Or, 5x² = 300

    Or, x² = 60

    Required difference = {5 × (7.75) - 7.75} = (38.75 - 7.75) = 31
