Question
B invests 20% of his monthly salary on Travelling and
20% of remaining on Food. Again, he invested 25% of the remaining (after travelling and food expenses) on Rent. If he invested Rs. 4,800 on Rent and Food, then find his monthly salary.Solution
Let monthly salary of B = 100x Amount invested on Travelling = (20/100) × 100x = 20x Remaining amount = 100x – 20x = 80x Amount invested on Food = (20/100) × 80x = 16x Remaining amount = 80x – 16x = 64x Amount invested on Rent = (25/100) × 64x = 16x ATQ, => (16x + 16x) = 4800 => x = 150 Therefore monthly salary of B = 100 × 150 = Rs. 15,000
