Question
A man spends 23% and 10% of his monthly salary on rent
and transportation, respectively. Out of the remaining money, he spends 31% on food and 46% on entertainment. If he saves Rs. 3004.95, then find his monthly salary.Solution
Let the monthly salary of the man be Rs. ‘x’. Money spent on rent and transportation = (23 + 10)% of x = Rs. 0.33x Remaining money = (x – 0.33x) = Rs. 0.67x Money spent on food and entertainment = (31 + 46)% of 0.67x = Rs. 0.5159x Remaining money left = 0.67x – 0.5159x = 0.1541x So, 0.1541x = 3004.95 x = Rs. 19500
