Question
Out of the total income of Anjali, she spends 20% on
food, 40% on rent and 25% on groceries. Out of the remaining income, she donates 35% in a charity and saves the rest. If Anjali saves Rs. 2,925, then find her income.Solution
ATQ, Let the income of Anjali be Rs. '100x' Amount spent on food = '100x' X 0.2 = Rs. '20x' Amount spent on rent = '100x' X 0.4 = Rs. '40x' Amount spent on groceries = '100x' X 0.25 = Rs. '25x' Remaining income = ('100x' - '20x' - '40x' - '25x') = Rs. '15x' Savings of Anjali = '15x' X 0.65 = 2,925 Or, 9.75x = 2,925 Or, x = 2,925 ÷ 9.75 = 300 Therefore, income of Anjali = 100x = 100 X 300 = Rs. 30,000
