Question

A student scored 45 marks in a test and scored 25% less marks than passing marks. If passing marks is 30% of total marks, and Arijit scored 72% marks in the test, then find the marks scored by Arijit.

A 164 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 196 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 192 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 144 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the passing marks be 'x' Therefore, x - 0.25x = 45 Or, 0.75x = 45 Passing marks = 45 ÷ 0.75 = 60 Total marks = 60 ÷ 0.3 = 200 So, marks scored by Arijit = 200 X 0.72 = 144
