    Solution

    Let the total income be x. So, x – 40% of x – 30% of x – 50% of (100 – 40 – 30)x/100 = 3900 => x – 40% of x – 30% of x – 15% of x = 3900 => 15% of x = 3900 => x= 3900 *100/15 = Rs. 26000 Total amount spend on househols items = 26000 * 40/100 = Rs. 10400
