Question
A seller marked an item above its cost price and allows
a discount of 25% on it. On the discounted price, the seller charges a packaging price which is equal to 6% of the discounted price. If the seller sold the packaged item for Rs. 2,544, then find the marked price (in Rs.) of the item.Solution
ATQ, Let the marked price be Rs. '8x'. Discounted price of the item = 0.75 × 8x = Rs. '6x' Net selling price = 1.06 × 6x = Rs. '6.36x' So, '6.36x' = 2544 Or, 'x' = (2544 / 6.36) = 400 Therefore, the marked price = '8x' = 8 × 400 = Rs.3,200
