    Solution

    I. 2x2 – 10x – 48 = 0 => 2x2 – 16x + 6x – 48 = 0 => 2x(x – 8) + 6(x – 8) = 0 => (x – 8) (2x + 6) = 0 => x = 8, -3 II. y2 – 16y – 297 = 0 => y2 – 27y + 11y – 297 = 0 => y(y – 27) + 11(y – 27) = 0 => (y – 27) (y + 11) = 0 => y = 27, -11 Hence, relationship between x and y cannot be established.
