Question
The speeds of Ram and Rohan are 40km/hr and 50km/hr
respectively. Rohan initially is at a place A and Ram is at a place B. The distance between A and B is 520km. Ram started his journey 4 hours earlier than Rohan to meet each other. If they meet each other at a place O somewhere between A and B, then the distance between O and B isSolution
Let the distance covered of x km by Ram Time taken is ‘t’ hours, then Distance covered by Ram = speed × time x = 40 × t ………………………(i) Distance covered by Rohan (520 - x )km by Rohan. Distance covered by Rohan = speed × time (520 – x) = 50 × (t – 4) ………………………(ii) Putting the value of ‘t’ in eq (ii) from eq (i) (520 – x) = 50 × (x/40 – 4) 520 - x = 5x/4 – 200 520 + 200 = 5x/4 + x 720 = 9x/4 x = 320 km
