    days. After working together for 20 days, they discovered that only half of the work had been completed. To finish the remaining work within the original deadline, how many additional workers need to be hired?

    Solution

    Let the total work = 15 × 30 = 450 units

    Work done in 20 days = 450/2 = 225 units

    Work left = 450 – 225 = 225 units

    Now, the work done in 20 days has to be completed in 10 days.

    So, (15 × 20) = (15 + x) × 10

    300 = 150 + 10x

    x = 15

    So, 15 more men are required to complete the work on time.
