Question

Train ‘A’ travelling with a speed of 72 km/h can

cross a pole in 18 seconds. If the length of train ‘B’ is 60% less than that of train ‘A’ and it can cross a pole in 12 seconds then speed (in km/h) of train ‘B’ is:
    A 30 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 26 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 43.2 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 49 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Speed of train ‘A’ = 72 × (5/18) = 20 m/s Length of train ‘A’ = 20 × 18 = 360 metres Length of train ‘B’ = 0.4 × 360 = 144 metres Speed of train ‘B’ = (144/12) × (18/5) =216/5   = 43.2 km/h
