Question
Train A takes 90 seconds to cross a telegraph pole by
travelling at 18 kmph speed. Train B has its length 60% more than A. It takes 40 seconds to cross a pole. Find the time(in seconds) taken by train B to overtake train A.   ÂSolution
Let the length of A be x m. Given, ( x)/(18 × 5/18) = 90  ⇒ x = 450 Length of B = 450 + 60/100 × 450 = 450 + 270 = 720 m Speed of B = 720/40 = 18 m/s. ∴Required time = (450+720 )/(18-5) = 1170/13 = 90 seconds.
