Question

Rakesh travels a certain distance with a constant speed

of 24 km/h such that he reaches 2 hours late. If he travelled at constant speed of 30 km/h he would have reached on time. Find the distance travelled by Rakesh.
A 180 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 240 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 320 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 300 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

Let the appropriate time taken by Rakesh to travel the distance = 't' hours

Let the distance travelled by Rakesh = 'd' km

    We have, 24(t + 2) = 24t + 48 = d

    Also, 30t = d

    So, 24t + 48 = 30t

    So, 6t = 48

    So, t = 8

    So, d = 30t = 30 X 8 = 240 km
