What are Cubes & Dice?
Cube
A Cube is a three dimensional figure which is made out of a square. When a square is given a height equal to one of the sides, it becomes a Cube.
Basic Features of a Cube
Four faces are adjacent to one face
There are pairs of opposite faces. For instance, DEFH is ABCG and so on.
CDEG is the upper face of the cube
ABHF is the bottom face of the cube.
A cube has 6 square faces or sides
A cube has 8 points (vertices)
A cube has 12 edges
At a time, only three sides of a cube are visible and these sides can never be on the opposite side of each other.
Dice
On the other hand a Die/Dice is also a cube. It is a three dimensional figure with each of its six sides denoting different numbers/letters/colours, etc. It has 8 corners and 12 edges. In a dice, the length, breadth and height are equal to each other.
Numbers on a Die
The numbering on a die is specific.
The sum of the numbers on the opposite faces will always be equal to 7.
The number 1 will be opposite to number 6.
The number 2 is opposite to 5 and 3 is opposite to 4.
