Question

Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question:

    Seven person namely – G, H, I, J, K, L and M have different height. How many person are taller to J?

Statement I: J is taller to K, H but not as much as G, I. K is taller to M, L but not as much as I, J. I is only short to one person and L is shortest among all.

Statement II: K is taller to M, L but not as much as I, J. H is taller to K, M but not as much as J, I. G is tallest among all. M is only taller to L.

A If the data in Statement I alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement II alone is not sufficient to answer the question Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B If the data in Statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question, while the data in Statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C If the data either in Statement I alone or in Statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D If the data in both the Statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E If the data in both the Statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

We have: G, I > J > K, H.   J, I > K > M, L. I is only short to one person.  L is shortest among all. Based on above given information we have: Clearly, height of only two person are more than J. Hence, statement I is alone sufficient. From II: We have:  I, J > K > M, L.  J, I > H > K, M.  G is tallest among all.  M is only taller to L. Based on above given information we have: Clearly, exact height of J is not known. Hence, statement II is not sufficient.
