Question
Each of the questions below consists of a question and
two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and choose your answer accordingly. Five persons live on different floors in a five storey building such that the ground floor is marked as 1 and above it is marked as 2 and so till the 5 th floor. How many persons live above L? Statement I: Three persons live between N and M. Only one person lives between L and N. Statement II: N lives on the ground floor. L live on an odd number floor below M.Solution
From the clues in statement I, we can conclude that N either lives on the ground floor or the top floor similarly M either lives on the ground floor or the top floor. And ‘L’ lives on the third floor in both cases (shown below). From the clues in statement, II we can conclude that N lives on the 1st floor and L lives on the 3 rd floor.
So, the data either in statement I or statement II is sufficient to answer the questions.
