In the question below some statements are given followed by three conclusions I, II and III. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusion definitely follows from the given statements, disregarding commonly known facts.

    Statements:

    All Guitar is Harmonium.

    Some Harmonium is Sitar.

    No Sitar is Instrument.

    Conclusions:

    I. Some Harmonium is not Instrument.

    II. Some Instrument is Guitar.

    III. All Harmonium is Guitar.

A Only conclusion I follows Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B Only conclusions I and III follow Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C Either conclusion II or III follows Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Only conclusion III follows Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

Some Harmonium is Sitar (I) + No Sitar is Instrument (E) → Some Harmonium is not Instrument (O). Hence conclusion I follows. All Guitar is Harmonium (A) + Some Harmonium is Sitar (I) → No conclusion. Hence conclusion II does not follow. All Guitar is Harmonium (A) → Conversion → Some Harmonium is Guitar (I). Hence conclusion III does not follow.
