In each of the questions below are given four statements followed by three conclusions numbered I, II and III. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of given conclusions logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts.

    Statements:

    Some biscuits are toffees.

    No toffee is a candy.

    Conclusions:

    I. Some biscuits are cakes.

    II. Some candies are toffees.

III. All toffees being bread is a possibility.

A All follows Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B Only II follows Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C Only III follows Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D Only I and III follow Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

Some cakes are bread (I) + All breads are biscuits. (A) ⇒ Some cakes are biscuits. (I) ⇒ conversion ⇒ Some biscuits are cakes(I). Hence, conclusion I follows. conclusion II does not follow. Hence, there is no negative statement. Hence the possibility exists in conclusion III.
