You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements. Statements:   No clock is a minute. Some seconds are clocks. All hours are minute Conclusions: I. Some minutes are not seconds. II. Some minutes are not clocks. III. All hours are definitely not minutes.

    Solution

    Some seconds are clocks (I) + No clock is a minute (E) → Some seconds are not minutes (O). Hence conclusion I does not follow. No clock is a minute (E) → Conversion → Some minutes are not clocks (O). Hence conclusion II follows. All hours are minute (A) → I.I. → Some hours are minutes (I). Hence conclusion II does not follow.
