अर्थ : किसी का महत्व बढ़ने की अवस्था या भाव। जिन शब्दों से किसी प्राणी या पदार्थ के गुण भाव स्वभाव के अवस्था का बोध होता है, उन्हें भाववाचक संज्ञा कहते हैं। मिठास, बुढ़ापा, गरीबी, आजादी, साहस, वीरता, आदि शब्द भाव पूर्ण अवस्था तथा क्रिया के व्यापार का बोध करा रहे हैं इसलिए भाववाचक संज्ञा हैं।
