अशुद्ध वर्तनी श्रृंगार में आधा र की मात्रा को लगाया गया है, जो कि गलत है। इसी क्रम में शृंखला ही सही वर्तनी है, श्रृंखला गलत है।
शृंगार शब्द का निर्माण श एवं ऋ के सहयोग से हुआ है। इस आधार पर इस शब्द की सही वर्तनी शृंगार ही सही है। अर्थात, श्रृंगार एक गलत वर्तनी है।
