IBPS PO 2019 Exam
IBPS or Institute of Banking Personnel Selection is an independent recruitment body which recruits eligible candidates in various banks that are specified under its list. It covers all public sector banks including the regional rural banks (RRBs), that are operational all over India. IBPS conducts different examinations every year to recruit candidates as PO (Probationary Officer) and Clerks in various banks throughout India. A huge number of candidates await this golden opportunity that comes their way every year. IBPS mainly conducts the following examinations every year:
- IBPS PO (Probationary Officer)
- IBPS RRB PO (Officer Scale I, II & III)
- IBPS SO (Specialist Officer)
- IBPS Clerk
- IBPS RRB Office Assistant (Clerk)
IBPS had released its exam calendar for the year 2019-20 in the month of January. The wait of a large number of aspirants ended as soon as IBPS released its calendar of tentative dates. IBPS is known to stick to its timetable and the dates mentioned can be considered as final as there are seldom any changes in the examination schedule of IBPS. Now, as the dates have been released, the candidates have a visible timeline in front of them which will enable the candidates to make a long term, comprehensive plan for themselves, which will give them a fair chance to succeed. One of the major examinations conducted by IBPS is for the post of IBPS PO which is the most popular among all banking exams.
IBPS PO 2019 Exam Pattern
IBPS PO is conducted in three phases:
- Phase I: Preliminary Examination
- Phase II: Mains Examination
- Phase III: Personal Interview
IBPS PO Prelims (Phase I) Examination consists of three sections:
- English Language – 30 Questions – 30 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude – 35 Questions – 35 Marks
- Reasoning Ability – 35 Questions – 35 Marks
All the sections have separate sectional timing of 20 minutes each.
IBPS PO Mains (Phase II) Examination consists of four sections:
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude – 45 Questions – 60 Marks – 60 minutes
- General / Economy/ Banking Awareness – 40 Questions – 40 Marks – 35 minutes
- Data Analysis & Interpretation – 35 Questions – 60 Marks – 40 minutes
- English Language – 35 Questions – 40 Marks – 45 minutes
The IBPS PO Mains Examination also consists of an additional ‘ English Descriptive Test’ ( Letter & Essay Writing) which consists of 2 Questions worth 25 marks.
- Both the IBPS PO Prelims & Mains Examinations contain negative marking of 0.25 marks.
IBPS PO Interview (Phase III) – After the candidates qualify in both the phases, they are supposed to appear for the ‘Personal Interview’, in front of an interview panel. The total marks allotted for this phase will be 100. IBPS fixes the minimum qualifying marks of the interview phase more than 40% and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates.
